Angelic Gibson, CIO of AvidXchange, was named a finalist in this year’s Women in IT Awards, specifically for the CIO category. For this category, female CIOs who have demonstrated particular innovation and IT excellence were recognized on the list.
The prestigious Women in IT Awards initiative, presented by DiversityQ, provides a regional and global platform to showcase advocates, role models, and allies working together to break digital boundaries and promote the importance of a more inclusive tech sector. This year, the awards focused on shining a light on outstanding talent in the industry, as well as the employers that are implementing diversity initiatives to spearhead real change in the sector, and identify new role models to inspire more diverse talent into careers in tech.
Angelic has spent more than 20 years in information technology across a multitude of industries in both the private and public sectors. Over the course of her career, she has been instrumental in the development and execution of information security standards, the implementation of disaster recovery best practices, and building and supporting business intelligence and data management platforms. In October 2018, Angelic joined AvidXchange, a leading provider of accounts payable (AP) and payment automation solutions for the middle market, where she oversees the strategy behind development, operations and technology services. In December 2019, she was appointed a member of the AvidXchange Governance Team – the first female to join. As a member of the Governance Team, which is also comprised of AvidXchange’s CEO, CFO and CGO, Angelic leads strategy development for the business, using her expertise in technology to impact the way the entire organization works.
Over the past year, Angelic has overseen critical enhancements to various AvidXchange platforms, including the company’s integrations with SAP Concur, RealPage, BankTEL and newly acquired Core Associates. She has been instrumental in evaluating the AvidXchange tech stack and determining how to optimize the company’s capabilities without disrupting the customer experience, while also leading the onboarding of a new tech partner that will bring transformational change by working collaboratively to build new organizational and technical capabilities in 2021.
Under Angelic’s leadership, the TD&O organization has grown by 50+ new employees and is currently comprised of more than 25% women – outpacing percentages from leading tech companies like Apple, Google and Microsoft. She is leading the way for innovation not just within AvidXchange but across the industry, as evidenced by her recent selection for the Forbes CIO Next list, and is widely recognized as a thought leader in the space from her media interviews and resulting placements in CIO Online, CIO Dive and Security Magazine.
To qualify as a winner, judges will look at projects and achievements spanning the current organization or others if applicable, within the last 18 months. Examples of best practice, leadership, ROI generated and alignment to business goals must be included.
