Rob Phocas has joined the AvidXchange family as the new Director of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Phocas brings with him a robust background in sustainability and environmental law, including 10 years with the city of Charlotte as the Director of Sustainability, and a passion for giving back to the communities in which he works and lives.
“Having a large footprint in Charlotte, it is imperative that we are cognizant of how our business affects the city, economically, socially and environmentally,” said Michael Praeger, Co-founder and CEO of AvidXchange. “We’re excited for an industry expert like Rob to help ensure that AvidXchange is positively impacting the places we call home, helping us deepen our engagement with all of the communities we serve across the U.S.”
As the Director of CSR, Phocas will lead the company’s community engagement efforts across all five U.S. office locations. He will also oversee strategic direction of the AvidXchange Foundation, working with local partners and teammate volunteers to carry out the mission of making a difference in the lives of children.
“Charlotte is rapidly growing, as is AvidXchange, and it’s important to look at this growth through the lens of how it can benefit all the cities where we have a footprint,” said Phocas. “I am passionate about giving back to the local community and building our brand in the areas where we work and live, and excited to be part of the AvidXchange story going forward.”
Prior to his tenure as Director of Sustainability, Phocas served as Charlotte’s Assistant City Attorney for three years. He received a bachelor’s degree in history from Vassar College. Additionally, Phocas earned his Juris Doctor degree and Master of Environmental Management in environmental economics and policy from Duke University.
