AvidXchange™ Unveils Technology Campus in Charlotte’s North End

June 8, 2017

CHARLOTTE, N.C., (June 8, 2017) – AvidXchange™, leading fintech provider of Accounts Payable Automation, invoice management software & business payment software for midsize companies, was joined by Mayor Jennifer Roberts today to celebrate the completion of its six-story, 200,000 sq. ft. corporate headquarters building as part of their growing Music Factory campus. The themes of innovation, music, and community are threaded throughout the headquarters bring together AvidXchange’s passion for the Queen City, Music Factory, and focus on delivering what’s next for payables.

“We couldn’t be prouder of 1210 AvidXchange Lane, because it’s so much more than an address for us. We’re so honored to be a fixture of the Music Factory community, and bring our technology campus of the future to the North End,” stated Michael Praeger, Co-Founder and CEO of AvidXchange. “Charlotte is AvidXchange’s home, and we’ve been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received from the community that has helped get us to where we are today. We hope that our innovation-focused campus will serve as a catalyst for growth of technology companies in the Queen City,” added Praeger.

A core design principle for the new campus was collaboration. This is highly important for the fast-growing company that thrives on impromptu meetings with open areas for discussion and brainstorming. AvidXchange is thrilled to bring a technology campus that features state-of-the-art work spaces and conference rooms to accommodate the way the company works organically. AvidXchange was able to accomplish this through design, and significant investments in the latest technology with Cisco. In fact, AvidXchange is among the first 50 customers to acquire Spark Boards. Another feature of the building that is truly unique, was designed by IVCi and the company refers to it as a “stairatorium”. The company also worked with Katalyst Network Group to deploy its new technology successfully, as well as help IVCi to bring all of the specialty spaces within the new building to fruition.

“Cisco Spark and Cisco Spark Board enable teams to meet, share, draw and message – both from their mobile devices and in meeting rooms,” said Tormod Ree, Senior Director and General Manager for Cisco Spark Devices. “Innovative companies like AvidXchange are using the Cisco Spark platform to get things done fast and outpace their competition.”

“Creating a revolutionary ‘collaboration stairatorium’—an amphitheater-style auditorium with a large format video wall display—in an open floor area with high ceilings presented many challenges,” said Robert Mathews, CTS-D, IVCi’s Collaboration Strategist. “Using 3D Modeling to visually represent the experience in the space for the AvidXchange Executives, prior to construction, enabled us to efficiently demonstrate the value of the technology and workflow. For example, acoustical reverberation was a significant problem; therefore Renkus-Heinz loudspeakers were selected via their 3D acoustical EASE modeling analysis. This positioned the steerable line array and subwoofer for the best possible performance.”

Features of the office tower include the following:

  • Stadium stair atrium
  • Yoga stadium, gym & locker rooms
  • Basketball court
  • Private meeting rooms
  • 100-seat training room
  • Nurse’s station with on-site nurse & mother’s room
  • Game areas
  • Café

The completion is not just a milestone in AvidXchange’s growth story, but also for the city’s economic development and technology community. The building serves as a bridge between Uptown and North End, another huge stride towards revitalization of the area. Plus, it proves that Charlotte’s technology community is burgeoning, attracting amazing talent from across the country and rivaling innovative campuses of the West coast.

“Our new campus supports our high energy, collaborative, and innovative culture for our current employees, and will be a wonderful asset for us as we expand our employee base with additional high performers,” commented Todd Cunningham, SVP of Human Capital and Talent Development for AvidXchange. “We recruit nationally, and have attracted talent from Silicon Valley, Boston, and other top technology hubs in the country with our unique and vibrant culture. The new campus design will help our recruiters tell the story of who we are as a company as they tour candidates through our space,” added Cunningham.

AvidXchange worked closely with Red Rock Developments, LS3P, Brasfield and Gorrie, and JLL to bring its corporate campus to life. AvidXchange currently has over 850 employees. The new building joins the Music Factory campus where over 350 employees already work in an existing office on Hamilton Street. Expecting sustained exponential growth, the company plans to evaluate its space needs and assess a second, planned building on the site within the next couple of years.
